What happens when one of the most recognized voices in faith sits across from a Gen-Z street evangelist who openly disagrees with the prosperity gospel?
That’s exactly what took place when Bryce Crawford, founder of the Jesus in the Street podcast, was given Kenneth Copeland’s first sit-down interview in over a decade. The conversation was two hours long. It was unscripted. And it went places no one expected.
Courtney Copeland, KCM’s Chief Marketing Officer and Kenneth’s granddaughter, facilitated the connection. What drew her to Bryce was his authenticity — his willingness to ask hard questions while remaining open and respectful. And that’s exactly what he brought to the table.
The Interview That Broke the Internet
Bryce walked in with honesty. He said upfront that he didn’t agree with the prosperity gospel — but that he wanted to understand. He came as a son sitting with a father. And Kenneth received him that way.
What followed wasn’t a debate. It was a Bible study.
Every question Bryce raised — about prosperity, about the “name it and claim it” label, about whether God truly wants every believer to be wealthy — Kenneth answered the same way: by opening his Bible.
He didn’t deflect. He didn’t dodge. He went straight to the Word.
And one of the most striking moments? In two full hours, Kenneth never once asked for money. Not once. For someone the internet has labelled a “prosperity gospel preacher,” that silence speaks volumes.

So What Does Prosperity Actually Mean?
This is where the conversation gets important — and where so much confusion lives.
Kenneth took Bryce to Psalm 35:27 and broke down the Hebrew word shalom. Most people hear “shalom” and think peace. But the full meaning goes much deeper: wholeness, completeness, nothing missing, nothing broken, and yes — no lack.
Money is part of that picture, but it’s a slice, not the whole pie.
Prosperity, as Kenneth explained, looks different for everyone. For one person, it’s a pair of shoes they desperately needed. For another, it’s food on the table. For a ministry, it’s having the resources to keep putting the Word out into the world. The common thread is sufficiency — having enough for yourself and enough to give to others.
That distinction matters. There’s a difference between a prosperity preacher and a money preacher. Kenneth proved which one he is — not by what he said about money, but by the fact that he barely mentioned it at all.
Victory Podcast Breaks It Down
Our Victory Podcast hosts Angel and Sarai watched the full two-hour interview and had to respond. In Episode 21, they unpack the conversation, address the tension in the comments section, and dig into what the Word actually says about prosperity, the power of our words, and what it looks like to honour spiritual fathers — even when you don’t agree on everything.
A few highlights from their conversation:
- On the reaction culture: The podcast had barely been live 30 minutes before the comments section erupted. People were making judgments without watching. Angel and Sarai challenge listeners to actually sit with the content before forming an opinion.
- On the Word as the foundation: One of the biggest takeaways — Kenneth’s ability to answer every question with Scripture. Not opinion. Not tradition. The Word. That’s a challenge for all of us: do we know the Word well enough to let it be our standard?
- On honouring across generations: Bryce came out of the interview wanting to read his Bible more. That’s the fruit of sitting with someone who carries wisdom and receiving with humility. Angel and Sarai point to this as a model for how the younger generation and the older generation can build bridges instead of walls.

The Bigger Picture
This isn’t just about one interview. It’s about a moment — a generation asking real questions and elders who are willing to sit down, open the Word, and answer them with patience and love.
Whether you agree with every theological point or not, there’s something undeniable about what happened in that room: two people from different generations chose conversation over cancellation. And the fruit of that is Christ being lifted up.
We encourage you to watch both the original interview and the Victory Podcast reaction as well as Courtney Copeland’s behind story. Go in with an open heart. Let the Word be your measuring stick. And if it stirs something in you — good. That’s the point.
