August 2024 Partner Letter

Dear Partner,

Let’s begin with what the great Apostle Paul said in his second letter to the church at Corinth in Chapter 4:13:

  1. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak

Now let’s turn to Chapter 5:6-7:

  1. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from The LORD:
  2. (For we walk by faith, not by sight:).

That’s good, but now let’s look at the same verses in the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition:

  • So then, we are always full of good and hopeful and confident courage; we know that while we are at home in the body, we are abroad from the home with The LORD [that is promised us]. For we walk by faith [we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk] not by sight or appearance.

We regulate our lives and conduct by our conviction or belief. The bottom line is: We walk by faith and not by what we see. Now look at verses 17-21 (AMPC):

  • Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him]. It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor). So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God. For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

So you and I, Partner, the moment we accepted Jesus as our LORD and Savior, were made the righteousness of God in Him! What passed away? Our old, sinful nature. Our heavenly Father did not create any “unworthy new creatures”!

Let’s go, now, to the First Covenant in Genesis 17:1-7. You have heard me say this before, but I will remind you again, that this is the first recorded name change in the blood of a man through circumcision:

  • And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, The LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

Notice verse 1 again: “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, The LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” “I am the Almighty God,” or El Shaddai, the God who is more than enough, referring to a mother feeding her baby, or like a nurse taking care of a patient in a hospital.

Sixty-two years ago, Gloria Jean Neece became Gloria Jean Copeland. Fortythree years ago, the Southwest Believers’ Convention began. I was 44 years old, and Gloria was 39. I’m still preaching now what I was preaching then. Turn to Deuteronomy 28:1-2, 8, 12-13 and see what The LORD said to the children of Israel:

  • And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of The LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that The LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these BLESSINGS shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of The LORD thy God…. The LORD shall command THE BLESSING upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall BLESS thee in the land which The LORD thy God giveth thee…. The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to BLESS all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And The LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of The LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.

Now check this out. Verse 28:61: “Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will The LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

That’s First Covenant. Go with me, now, to Galatians 3:13-17, and then verse 29 (AMPC), in the Second (and last) Covenant, and get ready to shout!

  • Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); to the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, THE BLESSING [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. To speak in terms of human relations, brethren, [if] even a man makes a last will and testament (a merely human covenant), no one sets it aside or makes it void or adds to it when once it has been drawn up and signed (ratified, confirmed).
  • Now the promises (covenants, agreements) were decreed and made to Abraham and his Seed (his Offspring, his Heir). He [God] does not say, And to seeds (descendants, heirs), as if referring to many persons, but, And to your Seed (your Descendant, your Heir), obviously referring to one individual, Who is [none other than] Christ (the Messiah). This is my argument: The Law, which began 430 years after the covenant [concerning the coming Messiah], does not and cannot annul the covenant previously established (ratified) by God, so as to abolish the promise and make it void…. And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham’s Seed], then you are Abraham’s offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise.

In closing, let’s go to Ephesians 2:12-13 (AMPC):

  • [Remember] that you were at that time separated (living apart) from Christ [excluded from all part in Him], utterly estranged and outlawed from the rights of Israel as a nation, and strangers with no share in the sacred compacts of the [Messianic] promise [with no knowledge of or right in God’s agreements, His covenants]. And you had no hope (no promise); you were in the world without God. But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were [so] far away, through (by, in) the blood of Christ have been brought near.

Now go back to Galatians 3:13-17 (AMPC):

Now the promises (covenants, agreements) were decreed and made to Abraham and his Seed (his Offspring, his Heir). He [God] does not say, And to seeds (descendants, heirs), as if referring to many persons, but, And to your Seed (your Descendant, your Heir), obviously referring to one individual, Who is [none other than] Christ (the Messiah). This is my argument: The Law, which began 430 years after the covenant [concerning the coming Messiah], does not and cannot annul the covenant previously established (ratified) by God, so as to abolish the promise and make it void.

Now Faith IS…what? Hebrews 11:1-6 (AMPC):

  • Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. For by [faith—trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report. By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by The WORD of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.
  • [Prompted, actuated] by faith Abel brought God a better and more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, because of which it was testified of him that he was righteous [that he was upright and in right standing with God], and God bore witness by accepting and acknowledging his gifts. And though he died, yet [through the incident] he is still speaking. Because of faith Enoch was caught up and transferred to heaven, so that he did not have a glimpse of death; and he was not found, because God had translated him. For even before he was taken to heaven, he received testimony [still on record] that he had pleased and been satisfactory to God. But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

Pat Boone and I have been very close friends since he was 21 and I was 18. Pat introduced me to Jack Hayford, who said to me in his office, “Copeland, I don’t think you are balanced and, in my opinion, you shouldn’t be because you are a faith specialist.

FAITH. That’s the reason why we’re here at KCM and EMIC! Always remember, God Loves you, we Love you, and Jesus Is LORD!

Love,
